Born in December 1942 in Daura, Katsina State, Muhammadu Buhari's life is one of the most compelling narratives of determination in modern African history. He rose from modest beginnings through military ranks, was ousted and detained for three years without trial, then persisted through three failed presidential bids before finally winning in 2015 — a thirty-year arc from political downfall to vindication. This story is proof that success is not automatic. It is earned.
This project documents the thirty years of Muhammadu Buhari's personal journey of resilience, from his 1985 ousting to his 2015 election — the discipline, persistence and endurance that carried him there. It does not comment on or evaluate his record in office.
Resilience is not only about documenting great lives — it is about using those stories to transform the lives of Nigerian youths.
The Success Is Not Automatic project — honouring President Muhammadu Buhari — is the first chapter in Resilience's growing vision to train 1,000,000 Nigerian youths over time, starting with practical skills in rabbit farming, vegetable farming, business and stock investing.
This project was created with devotion and at personal cost. On the one-year memorial, we intend to release every format freely to the public. We invite the family, friends and admirers of President Buhari to be part of this journey — sponsoring even one youth in his honour helps carry both legacies forward.
